He has a credit card XD There is actually an episode in older series where Hakkai has enough of cleaning after them and ditches them with Sanzo's credit card, so the other three are pretty much broke for the rest of the the episode. There are also some episodes where they arrive at places where credit cards aren't used so they have to deal with whatever problem the place is dealing with in order to earn enough for food and place to stay.

Don't forget it's a credit card the 3 floating heads and temple gave him with unlimited amount.

Nah, the Holy Trinity did gave Sanzo their credit card with (supposedly) illimited budget so that he could fund their trip ; but they later discovered their (huge) bank account was nearly empty because Sanzo and Co. overspent everything on food, booze, tobacco, and huge repairs compensations XDD

So they decided to put restrictions on the card. Sanzo ended being the one holding on it, because Goku and Gojyo just overspend on food/booze/tobacco mindlessly ; and Hakkai, while being reasonable and savvy, still tends to buy homey things they never need. (He's like a house-boy^^)

Oh no sanzo has temporarily left the team and now they're just three people with no monk

Gonna be interesting to see our misfits on two opposing sides of this conflict, that I feel outside forces are influencing. Especially the Humans as they are looking for a fight, a justification to slaughter a group of people.

In this case, Demons. And they have been peaceful til this water shortage, just so happened.

A civilized demons and a human that has a big place and wall to keep the demons out and the humans took all the water and the demons has no water

I've literally just shown Saiyuki backstory to my friend (Reload Blast ep. 3, 4 and 5, Gaiden 1-3 and Burial ep. 2) only to come back to to this pain... poor Goku, the crow priest better stay the hell away from him, he was already creepy enough with young Hazel. Can't deny this chinese outfit plus military jacket and hat look adorable on Goku tho. Them selling fruit and helping out the demons was a nice break from usual episodic demon fighting and even they could see it. Hopefully Sanzo uncovers the general guy's bs regarding demons while dealing with the creep who hurt his child and Hazel better be useful enough to help him deal with that. Please just reunite the poor kid with Sanzo so the party can be together again. I'm a bit torn by Sanzo's chaotic tsundere behaviour, but I also understand he froze due to trauma of losing another person he cares about and just acted on instinct and once he recovered from it didn't know what to do or say to very pissed Gojyo so he put his focus into finding the person who hurt Goku. Really hope they settle this in the next episode cuz I really can't deal with multiple episode tsundere drama where they refuse to communicate.

May I signal translation errors at the beginning of the episode?

- When Gojyo starts arguing with Hakkai about Goku's situation :
He's not talking to Hakkai, saying "You".
He is saying to Hakkai that "He (implying Goku) was dying right in front of his (implying Sanzo) nose ; and yet, Sanzo did nothing but flee the scene."
(Hence why, Hakkai and Gojyo had to take charge and Hakkai got himself severely injured as a result.)

- When Goku ponders about being weak, while the other two are arguing... He's not thinking he himself is weak and fragile.
He's realising that their bond as 4 people is weak, and actually cracked so easily. Hence why images of them as 4 float in his mind as he reflects on it.

I understand that Japanese can be misleading sometimes... but this anime is following the manga without changing anything, from the pace, the frames, the pictures or the dialogue ; so unless the translator knows nothing about SAIYUKI, there's no way to mistranslate those...
You just have to quote the book words for words.

I end up being a bit disappointed by this episode, because Goku pondering on human bonds and their values is actually an important part of his growth as a character, an important message from the book, and sets the stage for further developments and characters choices in the story, so... :/

Why does Genjo Sanzo sounded like Momotaros from Den-O? Do they have the same VA? And also to Hakkai: any work but "selling your body" 😨. It's dangerous being you or the whole Sanzo crew

i highly recommend ppl to at least watch saiyuki gaiden to get a lil more lore about these boys origin. honestly i recommend starting from the beginning but even i forget the order lmaoo and there are some fillers too.
